The Xi'an Muslim Quarter - 西安回民街
The Xi’an ‘Muslim Quarter’ is a place recently known for it’s food and tourism, however it’s history can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty when Muslim Merchants arrived via the Silk Road and settled in (then) Chang’an.
Should you be in China, this is a fantastic place to visit, eat, to see cultural events, meet locals, and to practice street photography.

Over time, the Muslim food developed it’s now defining characteristic of mainly using beef and mutton, combining with pastry.
Some foods you can expect to encounter in the district are:
- Steamed Dumpling Soup
- Beef/Lamb Stew
- Meat Skewers
